The Samaritans Purse

We spent the first part of the Autumn term decorating and filling shoeboxes for the Samaritan's Purse Christmas Child Appeal 2012. The shoeboxes mean children around the world who would not normally receive a Christmas present will do so this year.
On Friday 19 October we held a special assembly attended by representatives of Operation Christmas Child. Our students presented them with the 42 boxes we filled. Students in Key Stages 3 and 4 drew and painted pictures and FE students created a compliment slip to go in each box.
In the assembly students heard about how the boxes will be shipped out to many different countries and distributed to underprivileged children and those in war-torn areas.
Many thanks to all the families who kindly sent in donations to fill the boxes or completed shoeboxes of their own. For more information on the work of the charity go to www.samaritans-purse.org.uk
