Children’s Hospice Week, 26 April to 3 May, is the UK’s only awareness and fundraising week for children with life-limiting conditions and the services, like children’s hospices, that support them.
In support of Little Havens Hospice we are holding a non-uniform day on Friday 26 April. For a donation of £1.00 pupils do not need to wear school uniform on that day, but are invited to dress up as their favourite ‘superhero’.

Children in Need

Our theme this year was 'Pyjama Party' and we asked children and staff to come in their pyjamas, dressing gowns, slippers, etc. in return for a donation of £1 or more. The day was very succesful and well supported and we raised £256.00.
The Samaritans Purse
We spent the first part of the Autumn term decorating and filling shoeboxes for the Samaritan's Purse Christmas Child Appeal 2012. The shoeboxes mean children around the world who would not normally receive a Christmas present will do so this year.
On Friday 19 October we held a special assembly attended by representatives of Operation Christmas Child. Our students presented them with the 42 boxes we filled. Students in Key Stages 3 and 4 drew and painted pictures and FE students created a compliment slip to go in each box.
In the assembly students heard about how the boxes will be shipped out to many different countries and distributed to underprivileged children and those in war-torn areas.
Many thanks to all the families who kindly sent in donations to fill the boxes or completed shoeboxes of their own. For more information on the work of the charity go to www.samaritans-purse.org.uk
Jeans for Genes Day
On Friday 5 October 2012 we held a non-uniform day in support of Jeans for Genes. Jeans for Genes Day raises money for Genetic Disorder UK and aims to change the world for children with genetic disorders.
Together with their associated health problems genetic disorders are the biggest cause of death of children aged 14 years and under and Jeans for Genes Day provides funding for the care and support of children with genetic disorders through its grant programme. Staff and students contributed to this good cause by making a financial donation and raised £135.00.
Well done and thank you to everyone who supported the day.
On Friday 28 September students in the Post 16 department ran a coffee morning in support of Macmillan Cancer.
